General Athletics Information

The athletic program is funded through the Associated Student Body and athletes are encouraged to purchase an ASB card. Our program at Grossmont High is under the jurisdiction of the Grossmont Union High School District and the California Interscholastic Federation

. Eligibility for participation in interscholastic athletics requires that the student must meet Grossmont District standards. (GUHSD requires students to be enrolled in five 5-unit courses within the regular school day throughout each grading period and be passing four of those classes at each grading period) athletes must have a 2.0 GPA from the most recent grading period and no more that one U in conduct. A physical examination is required before a student may try out, practice, or enter into competition. A State of California Physician's stamp is required on the physical form. Physicals are good for one calendar year from date of physical. Medical/accidental death and bodily injury insurance is required to play a school sport (including cheer) It can be provided by the parents' personal insurance coverage or, if your student needs insurance, the district offers Student Accident Insurance which meets the requirements for athletic participation. Forms are available in the Finance or Guidance Offices. In either case, the parent is responsible for providing insurance.

ATHLETIC CLEARANCE: Students and parents/guardians must complete the Athletic Clearance Packet prior to playing a sport. Physical forms are in the packet. Physicals are good for the current school year.  Athletic Clearance Packets are available online. The packet must be 100% complete before you can be cleared to participate in sports.
