New News:

Make-Up Pictures:  If you have not had an I.D. picture taken yet, your last chance will be this Thursday, September 25th.  Boyd Anderson will be here all day to take student and staff I.D. photos.

GHS Grad Featured on Television Film:  Tomorrow, at 9:00 p.m. PBS is broadcasting a new program entitled American Masters:The Boomer List, focusing on 19 famous Baby Boomers, including Ellen Ochoa, a GHS grad, Class of 1975.  Ellen was the first Hispanic female astronaut and is currently the Director of the Johnson Space Center in Houston.  Ellen is a member of our Hall of Honor.  The film’s subjects range from actors and singers to philanthropists and spiritual leaders.  They are some of the most influential people in America who have some interesting insights to share about  the characteristics that define the baby boomer generation.  PBS contacted the Museum last summer to obtain some of Ellen's photos from the 1975 El Recuerdo. They were looking for a photo of her wearing pants, which we found!  Tune in to learn more about one of GHS's famous alumni.

Photo Class Camera Missing:  One of our class Nikon Coolpix P100 cameras was lost. If you have seen it, or know anything that could help us find it, please stop in to see Ms. Mandell in room 210 between 3rd and 6th periods.  There is a reward for the return of the camera.

Volunteers Needed:  Chase Avenue Elementary and Murray Manor Elementary are looking for volunteers for their upcoming festivities. If you are interested in helping, please see the sign up sheets in Mrs. Thren's room, 565.

Attention All Foothillers:  Tuesdayduring lunch is the first Gay-Straight Alliance Club meeting. Come join us in room 1463 and hear about this year's exciting plans!

Friday Night Live Club:  Do you want to make a difference at GHS?  Do you want to help promote a healthy, drug and tobacco free GHS?  Come to the first Friday Night Live Club meeting at student lunch on Thursday in the counseling office conference room.

CSF:  The California Scholarship Federation is the oldest scholastic scholarship institution in the state of California. It is a well recognized scholastic achievement by most universities and colleges.  CSF emphasizes in high academic standards as well as community service. If you are interested in becoming a member, stop by Mr. Lee’s classroom- Science Building Room 1130 to pick up an application.  The deadline to apply is September 26

Girl’s Soccer:  If you are interested in playing girl’s soccer this year, please come to a meeting this Wednesday, September 24th, at lunch in Coach Neill's room - Room 865. Go to www.grossmontsoccer.comfor details.

Girl’s LaCrosse:  All girls interested in playing lacrosse this year should attend a meeting this Friday at lunch in room 865.

Boy’s Pre-Season Soccer Meeting:  The meeting will be next Tuesday, September 30th at 3:00pm.  We will meet at the east side Stadium Bleachers.  Any players interested in JV or varsity Boy’s Soccer should attend.
