By 2020, 65% of all jobs will require post-secondary education. Employers are demanding highly trained, competent and skilled workers in a wide array of industries. That’s why the Grossmont Union High School District and Grossmont-Cuyamaca Community College District have joined forces to set all GUHSD students up for success. Students in the Class of 2019 and beyond from these east county high schools (INCLUDES GROSSMONT HIGH SCHOOL) are automatically considered Higher Edge Scholars and will be able to participate in exciting new programs that will begin to be offered to students in the 2016/17 academic year. Students that fulfill the requirements of the Higher Edge Promise Scholarship criteria will be rewarded with FREE college for their first 30 units at either Grossmont or Cuyamaca Colleges.
The Future Forward Initiative provides a Chromebook laptop to each student as a means to expand on the potential of a conventional classroom. Students are able to use these devices at school and at home in conjunction with the comprehensive suite of Google applications. The Foothiller Players are the proud recipients of numerous awards and nominations from National Youth Arts which is a national organization recognizing outstanding youth theatre across the country. Only the most outstanding productions, actors, designers, and directors are recognized through the NYA adjudication process. For the 2015-16 school year, the GHS Foothiller Players were recognized in the following categories:
Way to go Lady Foothillers. Both the Girls Basketball team and the Softball team dominated their CIF tournaments. Basketball won their league and then their first ever CIF Championship.
